You booked your boudoir session, now what?
I know it took a lot of courage to book your session and now you have to find the perfect lingerie for your session. Spoiler alert: it does NOT have to be perfect! I have knowledge of posing and adjusting lingerie to come out perfect in the camera!
After booking your session we get to plan for you to have the best, most magical experience ever! It all starts with you and your lingerie. I get so excited to go shopping or to receive packages in the mail, if you’re like me, then you are going to love this part!
It can be a little stressful especially if you don’t know where to begin. There are over thirteen styles of lingerie, from a simple bra and panty set to corsets and bustier. There are a lot of things to consider other than wearing the right size. So, when choosing what style of lingerie you want to wear I have complied a list of short tips to help you out before the big day!
Every body is different and every body is beautiful. Your body is your life story from scars you got as a kid to stretch marks from growing your children inside you. Accept you for you and love you for you! I already do!
Regardless of how you should feel, in true honesty everyone does have things they like and don’t like about their body. I love to just focus on what you love, but we do have to address the things you don’t love. We want to accentuate what you love with your lingerie and we need to hide what you don’t love.
It does not have to be complicated. I can make you look amazing in a white sheet without lingerie, so when I say to not overthink it, I mean it!! I want you to maintain comfort and enjoy your time at your session!
A lot of lingerie comes with intricate straps, lace, or fasteners. Straps can dig into your skin or twist, so too many straps can be overwhelming. Sometimes it is just better to keep it simple. A bodysuit or a full-length slip can be just as elegant as the lingerie with all the frills.
The whole day is about staying within your comfort level while getting out of your comfort zone. Read that again.
You want to make sure that what you choose to wear is within your comfort level. Your photoshoot is to bring you out of your comfort zone, so let’s not shake the comfort on all levels and stick to what you feel good in. You can wear as little or as much clothing as you want. Great options to help are robes, night dresses or a white button-down shirt.
Black and red are the two most common colors that women bring to their session. So I recommend bringing no more than two black lingerie options. I want you to bring an array of colors that compliment you and just having black options may give us less of variety when selecting your photos.
The only color or style I would caution against, almost recommend not to bring, is bright neon colors and crazy busy patterns. They just don’t photograph well.
Accessories are always a great way to add to lingerie wardrobe! There are a lot of options but again refer to my KISS tip. Jewelry, body chains and garter belts can act as a prop to enhance the photo but also give you something to “play” with during the shoot.
I always, always, always will remind you to NOT FORGET THE HEELS! They complete the outfit and always will help keep your toes pointed!
Once you are booked in, I will share my lingerie guide with you. It has style options listed out and starting points for lingerie stores. Furthermore you will have access to all the knowledge in my brain when it comes to lingerie and choosing the right style for you!
